Academic publishers usually provide access to journal articles and book chapters if a university library pays for a subscription to the publications, and access is only for students and employees of the university. Open access (OA) brings publications out of this paywall, making them accessible to anyone with an internet connection. The OA publication generally extends the reach of your work to a wider global audience and diversifies readership (Science, 2024), increasing its availability and impact.
Soka University of America participates in transformative agreements with the major publishers through the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC). These agreements enable our faculty, staff, and students to publish articles in various academic journals as open access without paying Article Processing Charges (APCs), the fees authors are usually required to pay.
Our transformative agreements include partnerships with the following publishers. If you have questions about how to publish your work as open access with these publishers, please contact library@soka.edu.
