The land on which we gather is the unceded territory of the Acjachemen (Ha-shee-men) Nation who were conscripted by the Spanish Colonizers to build the Mission San Juan Capistrano and also imposed upon them the name “Juaneño” Band of Mission Indians. We acknowledge the painful history and dispossession of the Acjachemen (Ha-shee-men) people, past and present, and aspire to uphold our responsibilities to honor and protect their lands.
